Introducing the Less CO2 Campaign
One thing is for sure, there’s too much CO2 in our environment and we all need to work together to drastically reduce the amount of carbon we emit into the atmosphere. That’s why I have decided to start up the ‘Less CO2’ campaign. I want to raise awareness and give practical support on how to reduce your CO2 footprint, starting at home.
Schools – The Inspiration for the Campaign
Both of my children attend what is known as an ‘eco-school’ where they practice and teach the children about lowering energy footprints, living sustainably and reducing the levels of harmful carbon emissions we are responsible for.
The Less CO2 schools campaign saves an average school 14% on energy costs and a whopping 17 tonnes less carbon emitted per year. Schools and pupils are educated through a series of workshops that are surprisingly easy to implement.
I looked at some of the learning materials they were teaching 8 year olds and realised I wasn’t putting it into practice, so I now live the ‘less CO2’ lifestyle and want to share useful resources and advice with my website visitors. Together we can save this planet!

Workshop 1 – Quick Wins to Save Energy at Home
The best place to start to reduce energy consumption and therefore CO2 emissions from your home is the following official guides:

You can also make energy efficiency improvements at home such as fixing or upgrading your boiler for more efficient or low carbon options. Some of my guides below can help with this:

Workshop 2 – Avoiding Household Waste
By reducing household waste – especially food waste you can drastically cut your CO2 footprint. Food production, and the decay of unused food has a hefty environmental impact.
With some careful planning you can minimise your household waste:

Another good way to reduce food and household waste is to invest in energy efficient appliances. For example, never refrigerators often have built in modes that keep foods from spoiling for longer. My appliances guides are a good help in finding the right ones for you:

Workshop 3 – Reducing CO2 Emissions from Transport
Transport is one of the biggest culprits of CO2 in our atmosphere, and one that households can directly make an impact on.
Read the following resources to help reduce your carbon footprint from travel:

Workshop 4 – Helping to Capture Carbon
When CO2 has been released into the environment unless it is re-captured it will trap heat and further contribute to global warming.
One way to capture carbon is through trees and plant life. Plants and trees actively intake CO2 and release O2. So make sure your garden is green and don’t be afraid to let things get a little messy and weedy every so often!
