February 21, 2022 by Tony

Flymo are famous when it comes to lawnmowers and they have a huge range of options to suit many different lawns.

Their mowers are powerful, reliable, and the familiar orange colour really sets them apart from other brands. Flymo really knows their stuff when it comes to compact, affordable lawn solutions and I love their products so much I’ve dedicated an entire lawnmower review article to them!

I’ve covered a huge variety of mowers in this article, from rotary to hover and even a robotic option. We’ll start with my top 5 favourites from Flymo and after that, I’ve included a handy buyers guide to help you choose the best option for your garden. Next, we have some FAQs and finally a few more options that haven’t quite made the top five but are too good to forget about!

Have a read over these and if you like the sound of any of them click on the Price and Reviews button to check the up-to-date prices. To get us started, let’s look into the number one choice for Flymo lawnmowers.

Top 5 Best Flymo Lawn Mowers

  • Top Choice – Flymo EasiStore 300 Li Cordless Battery Lawn Mower
  • Runner Up – Flymo Easi Glide 300 Electric Hover Collect Lawn Mower
  • Best Robotic – Flymo EasiLife 350 Robotic Lawn Mower
  • Best For Small Gardens – Flymo Hover Vac 250 Electric Hover Collect Lawn Mower
  • Best Plug In – Flymo EasiMow 300R Electric Rotary Lawn Mower

1. Top Choice – Flymo EasiStore 300 Li Cordless Battery Lawn Mower

Flymo EasiStore

Type Of Lawnmower: Battery Powered Rotary

Cutting Width: 30 cm

Grass Box: 30 Litres

Power: 1300 Watts/40 V

Weight: 8.8 kg

Price & Reviews

For a one-size-fits-all approach to lawnmowing, this Flymo electric lawnmower wins the top spot. It’s lithium-ion battery-powered so you’re not limited by the cable for how far you can mow.

It’s nowhere near as heavy as a petrol mower and easy to maneuver due to the wheels. The 30 cm cutting blade can easily handle lawns up to 500m2 and the 30-liter grass collection box is easy to remove and empty.

It has 5 cutting heights from 25-65mm which is adjustable using a simple lever. This mower also comes with a grass trimmer so you get perfect edges every time.

This mower is a great option for freedom and ease of use but it does have its shortcomings. The battery typically lasts for around 250m2 of mowing which means you have to re-charge for larger gardens or if you’re cutting thick or long grass. It takes 2 hours to re-charge the battery so a garden larger than 250m2 could take you all day to mow. It is definitely better for smaller gardens.

2. Runner Up – Flymo Easi Glide 300 Electric Hover Collect Lawn Mower

Flymo Easi Glide 300 Electric Hover Collect Lawn Mower

Type Of Lawnmower: Corded Electric Hover

Cutting Width: 30 cm

Grass Box: 20 Litres

Power: 1300 Watts

Weight: 8.5 kg

Price & Reviews

Hover mowers are a great option if you struggle to lift and move heavy mowers. They work by creating a cushion of air to glide on so move with ease in every direction.

This is a powerful little mower, with 1300 watt motor and a 30cm metal blade it can cut through long grass and small weeds. Despite this mower utilizing hover technology, it does still have the advantage of height adjustment of 4 options between 12-32mm. Simply add or remove plastic spacers to set this.

It gathers all the grass clippings into the 20 liter bag and the 10 meter power cable will cope with small lawns.

Hover mowers are a good option for flat, smooth lawns that need general upkeep. If you have a medium garden or uneven surface then you’re going to need a rotary lawnmower.

3. Best Robotic – Flymo EasiLife 350 Robotic Lawn Mower

Flymo EasiLife 350 Robotic Lawn Mower

Type Of Lawnmower: Battery Robotic

Cutting Width: 16 cm

Grass Box: None – self-mulching

Power: 18 V

Weight: 7.3 kg

Price & Reviews

Want a smooth lawn without having to put in the hard work? A robotic lawnmower really is a dream come true for many and it can remove a lot of hassle from grass cutting. It produces mulch from the grass as it mows so keeps your lawn nourished as well as smooth.

It is important to note, that these mowers only work for specific lawn types so won’t be a great option for every lawn.

This mower can handle up to 400m2 lawn maximum. If your lawn is larger than this it will struggle to keep up. It can’t handle a garden that slopes any steeper than 1 in 6 slope so not a good option if your garden is steeper than this.

To set up this mower you have to install a guidewire around the edge of your lawn so the mower knows where to go. This involves pegging it on display which is easier to install but is visible or you can bury it underground. This is more intensive to install and you won’t notice breaks as easily but it will make the garden look tidier.

The mower also needs an outdoor charging point that is weatherproof so sometimes it’s necessary to build a shelter for it. This needs to be added to the costs. These mowers are also high risk for robberies and they’re easily lifted out of the garden at night or when you’re not home. They do come with a pin code so thieves won’t be able to use it but it’s still a risk.

All this taken into consideration, if you have the ideal set-up this mower is a fantastic option for taking care of the lawn for you. It works really well and people everywhere are raving about this mower. Click the price and reviews to head over to Amazon to read more about this robot lawnmower.

4. Best For Small Gardens – Flymo Hover Vac 250 Electric Hover Collect Lawn Mower

Flymo Hover Vac 250 Electric Hover Collect Lawn Mower

Type Of Lawnmower: Electric Corded Hover

Cutting Width: 25 cm

Grass Box: 15 Litres

Power: 1400 Watts

Weight: 6.9 kg

Price & Reviews

If the size and weight of the mower are an issue for you then this Hover mower is the best Flymo option for you. A small, flat lawn doesn’t need a heavy petrol engine to take care of it. This extremely lightweight mower with foldable handles is not only easy to use and compact to store but it also features a very powerful motor.

It can handle bumps and gentle slopes easily and the small grass box leaves a tidy finish. You can adjust the cutting height to four different settings between 11-31 mm and the metal blade is more durable and makes for a neater cut.

It won’t give a nice striped finish like a rear roller or cylinder mower but what you lose here, the Flymo makes up for in weight and ease of use.

This mower won’t work on a very long, thick lawn as is the case with most hover mowers. It’s the perfect choice for small gardens and lawns that need general upkeep.

5. Best Plug In – Flymo EasiMow 300R Electric Rotary Lawn Mower

Flymo EasiMow 300R Electric Rotary Lawn Mower

Type Of Lawnmower: Corded Electric Rotary

Cutting Width: 30 cm

Grass Box: 30 Litres

Power: 1000 Watts

Weight: 8.4 kg

Price & Reviews

If you really take pride in your lawn and are aiming for a high quality finish every time then this is a great option for you. This is a rear roller lawnmower so will achieve that perfect striped finish.

With a 10 meter power cable alongside the generous 30cm cutting width plus 30 litres grass storage is a good recipe for smaller lawns. For larger areas, you can add an extension cable to really maximize the use of this mower. This means it’s not as far-reaching as a cordless lawn mower but it will last a lot longer so may actually be more useful for medium lawns.

The rear roller means it can cut right up to the edges of the lawn without scalping so you’ll get a neat finish even without using a trimmer.

It’s not as powerful as some other models but it’s pretty lightweight and the wheels make it easy to maneuver. It’s a good option for thicker lawns if you can’t manage a heavy petrol lawnmower.

Things To Consider When Choosing A Flymo Lawnmower

Hover Vs Rotary

The best lawnmower for your garden is dependant on your needs. A hover mower is lightweight, easy to mow with, and great for odd-shaped lawns as it handles corners well. Their shortcomings are they don’t leave a striped finish and they don’t work well on uneven, long, or steep lawns.

A rotary mower is a bit heavier and takes up more space. It does leave a neater finish but is a bit more tricky to turn and mow around corners. They are best for a larger, square lawn and they handle the rougher ground well.

Corded Vs Cordless

A corded lawnmower is easy to use as it’s always ready to go. Simply plug it in and you’re off. The cord length will limit the area you can cover and most Flymo lawnmowers come with a 10 meter cable. An extension cable is a good option to extend the area covered.

Cordless, battery-powered lawnmowers give you the freedom to roam from the get go. They’re perfect if there is no power source near the lawn that needs cut. This issue is that the batteries don’t tend to last very long so the area covered is pretty similar to what a corded lawnmower can do. It takes a few hours to re-charge the batteries so a larger lawn can take all day to cut.

Cutting Width

The cutting width of the lawnmower indicates the size of the lawn the mower can cover with ease. A rough guide to help you out is as follows.

For small lawns (up to 100sqm) you should be ok with a cutting width of around 30 cm, medium lawns (100-250sqm) will need 35-40 cm and larger lawns (250sqm+) will need 40 cm+.

Grass Collector Vs Mulching

A grass collector is a bag or box attached to the mower that all the grass clippings get sucked into whilst the mower is running. This allows you to compost them and makes for a tidy lawn but it does take a bit longer to mow as you have to stop and empty the bag.

A mulching lawnmower chops the grass clippings up very small so that they fall back into the lawn and decompose. This helps nourish the lawn but can also spread weeds.

A non-colling lawnmower just leaves the clippings as it mows so you have to rake them up afterward. This makes the mowing part quicker but gives you an extra job to do if you want a tidy finish.

Weight

The weight of the lawnmower is important as many people choose a Flymo because they can’t manage heavy lawnmowers. Make sure the mower you go for is a weight you feel comfortable working with as this will make the job a lot more pleasant and manageable.

F.A.Q.s

Are Flymo lawnmowers any good?

It depends on your lawn requirements. Flymo lawnmowers are designed to be lightweight, easy to store, and perfect for small lawns that need general maintenance. They work really well for smoother lawns and are good for odd-shaped lawns that a bigger mower will struggle to get to. If you have a very large garden or very thick, uneven grass then you’ll need a more heavy duty mower like a Bosch or a Honda to tackle this.

Why does my Flymo not hover?

A hover lawnmower that can’t pull in enough air will struggle to hover and will feel very heavy. This is often due to a build-up of grass clippings under the hood. Give the mower a sweep out and avoid mowing when the grass is damp to help prevent this issue.

Where are Flymo lawnmowers made?

Flymo is a UK company and their lawnmowers are produced in their production plant in Durham. They have been producing quality lawnmowers since the 1970s.

Who makes Flymo?

Flymo is a leading brand that is produced by the Husqvarna group. This company is a world leader in the production of outdoor products such as tractors, lawnmowers, chainsaws, and much more.

Can I cut wet grass with a Flymo?

It’s not recommended to cut wet grass with a Flymo for two reasons. The first being that the wet grass will tear more easily than dry grass so you’ll end up with an untidy finish. The second reason is that the wet grass clumps and can clog up the lawnmower causing it to have to work harder and possibly even failing.

This hover mower is extremely lightweight and one of the easiest mowers to use in small gardens. It can get around corners and into tight spaces with ease and with a weight of just over 5kg, it’s suitable for anyone to work with.

It doesn’t come with a grass collector so this helps keep it lightweight but if you want a tidy finish you’ll need to rake the lawn afterward.

It’s a very powerful motor and the metal blade is durable and cuts well. It’s a great option for small, flat lawns and stores away very compact as it can be wall-mounted.

Flymo Turbo Lite 330 Electric Hover Lawn Mower

Flymo Turbo Lite 330 Electric Hover Lawn Mower Non-Collect

Type Of Lawnmower: Corded Electric Hover

Cutting Width: 33 cm

Grass Box: None

Power: 1150 Watts

Price & Reviews

The Flymo Turbo Lite is such a handy model that it has made it onto our list twice! The 330 has a few features that set it apart from the 250 and I’ll cover these just now.

The blade is larger in size at 33cm so it can handle medium sized lawns rather than just small areas. It weighs a tiny bit more thanks to this but still isn’t too heavy to manage. The motor isn’t as powerful as the 250 but this makes it more economical to run on larger areas.

Otherwise, it has all the great features that the 250 boasts. A 10 meter cable, foldable handles and hanging storage, metal blade, and height adjustments are all features of both models.

Really, the main difference is the cutting width, and the one you go for depends on the size of your lawn.

Flymo Speedi-Mo 360VC Electric Rotary Lawn Mower

Flymo Speedi-Mo 360VC Electric Rotary Lawn Mower

Type Of Lawnmower: Corded Electric Rotary

Cutting Width: 36 cm

Grass Box: 40 Litres

Power: 1500 Watts

Weight: 11.5 Kg

Price & Reviews

For medium sized gardens, this is the most powerful rotary mower on our top 10 list. The 36 cm blade and adjustable cutting height will tackle grass of any length and thickness. With a 40 liter grass box, you won’t be stopping too frequently to empty this. The mower is designed so that it compresses the grass as it cuts so this also helps maximize space in the box.

Another feature I love is that the power cord is 2 meters longer than the standard length so you can get further with this mower.

It has a durable metal blade for a clean finish and a single height adjustment lever makes it really simple to set the correct height for the cut you need to keep the grass healthy.

The handles fold up and the lawnmower has a carry handle for ease of storage. It’s a bit larger and heavier than our other mowers on the list but for a lawn needing a more heavy duty mower, this one will not disappoint.

Flymo Glider Compact 330AX Electric Hover Collect Lawn Mower

Flymo Glider Compact 330AX Electric Hover Collect Lawn Mower

Type Of Lawnmower: Corded Electric Hover

Cutting Width: 33 cm

Grass Box: 22 Litres

Power: 1700 Watts

Weight: 9.4 kg

Price & Reviews

With ultraglide technology, this Flymo Hover mower is the most powerful lawnmower on our list. A 1700 watts motor will power through long grass better than most Hover mowers.

The wider cutting width of 33 cm plus the 22 liter grass box makes for a cleaner finish and the compact design allows this mower to reach the lawn edges with ease.

It’s a bit heavier than some of our other hover mower options but still compact and easy to store by design. One small issue is, this mower doesn’t cope well in the damp so best use only when the grass is nice and dry.

Flymo EasiStore 340R Electric Rotary Lawn Mower

Flymo EasiStore 340R Electric Rotary Lawn Mower

Type Of Lawnmower: Corded Electric Rotary

Cutting Width: 34 cm

Grass Box: 35 Litres

Power: 1400 watts

Weight: 10 kg

Price & Reviews

Finally, last but not least we have the Flymo Easistore rotary lawn mower. This mower is a good size for a medium garden with a 10 meter cable and 5 adjustable height settings it can be used all year round.

It has a rear roller to achieve that perfect striped finish every time and the close-to-edge cutting gives you a clean border even without using a trimmer.

It’s not too heavy for a rotary mower and the design for storage is something quite special. First, you fold up the handles, and then the mower can be stood verticle to minimize the footprint. Finally, hang the grass bag up and you have a compact, easy to use storage solution that won’t take up much space in your shed or garage.
