Floor cleaning is a job that most of us do not look forward to. Not only is it tedious, pushing the mop around but filling and lugging heavy buckets of water everywhere is hard work.
This is where microfibre can save the day!
The material that makes up microfibre is ultra-absorbent and creates a static pull that clings onto dust and debris, effectively sweeping into every corner and not leaving small piles of dirt behind.
The design of this allows for the microfibre mop to clean pretty much every surface using only water, but floor soap can be used if desired. The material is machine washable so this makes mopping waste-free, cheap, and eco-friendly.
I’ve been busy, looking into and testing out a huge range of microfibre mops and I’ve finally compiled this list of the best options available in the UK.
It starts off with the top 5 best options followed by a buying guide to help you choose the one that best suits your needs. Lastly, I have some other great options that should also be considered alongside the top 5.
We’ll kick it off with our top choice, the Vileda spray, flat mop.
Top 5 Best Microfibre Mops UK
- Top Choice – Vileda 1-2 Spray Microfibre Flat Spray Mop
- Runner Up – PAPCLEAN Microfibre Spray Mop
- Best Mop & Bucket – Vileda SuperMocio Microfibre and Cotton Mop and Bucket Set
- Best for Hard Floor – E-Cloth Deep Clean Mop
- Best Microfibre Dust Mop – MR. SIGA Professional Microfiber Mop
1. Top Choice – Vileda 1-2 Spray Microfibre Flat Spray Mop
Brand: Vileda
Pros
- Trigger Spray Mop
- Machine Washable Pad
- Hygienic Cleaning
- Suitable for all hard floors
Cons
- Does need some maintenance
Our top choice for the best microfibre mop has to be the Vileda spray mop. The thing that really sets this one apart is the fact you can mop without a separate spray bottle or bucket of water.
The mop handle has a compartment built in that you can fill with water plus or minus floor cleaner and a spray trigger is used to dispense the liquid as a fine mist in front of the mophead.
The microfiber pad is a super hygienic way to clean all hard floor types and removes 99% of bacteria with only water. To tackle tougher grease and grime any floor soap can be added to the mop and you’ll have the job done in no time.
The pad is easy to remove from the mop head as it simply clicks out and can be washed in the washing machine up to 60 degrees. Replacement mop heads are available to purchase so this floor mop will last a long time.
One thing to be cautious of with this mop is you need to empty the container before you store the mop. Pour out excess liquid and spray the nozzle to clear the last of it out. If you’ve used cleaning products then run fresh water through the mop. This saves the pipes from getting clogged up with soap suds.
The mop will need descaling if you live in an area with hard water. Simply add the descaling agent to the container and use the spray nozzle to flush it through.
The head of this mop is on a swivel attachment so can easily get into those hard-to-reach areas. It is really easy to use and works really well on all floor types from vinyl to wood so that’s why it’s my number 1 choice!
2. Runner Up – PAPCLEAN Microfibre Spray Mop
Brand: Papclean
Pros
- Telescopic Light Handle
- Heavy Duty Reinforced Mop Head
- 360 Degree Rotation
- Comes with 3 extra cleaning pads
Cons
- A bit sturdy in assembly
For our runner-up, I have a more heavy-duty model. The Papclean flat mop has an extendable pole made from rust-resistant aluminum. With a non-slip handle, it’s easy to use and you won’t end up with a sore back or shoulders.
The swivel head rotates by 360 degrees so can handle any twists and turns. This feature is enhanced by the reinforced by the special design of the mop head which prevents it from flipping when used correctly.
The head is designed to cover large areas and the microfibre pad is suitable for wet mopping or dry dusting use. If pet hair is an issue then you’ll love the extra scrubber tool that comes with this mop. It can be used on the microfibre mop head to clean away dirt and hair when the pad is used for dusting.
The cleaning mop comes with 4 replacement head refills which can be cleaned in the washing machine. You will find you’ll go for a long time before you need to consider replacing these mop pads.
This mop can be used on all surfaces from wooden floors to laminate and is the perfect cleaning solution for any busy household.
3. Best Mop & Bucket – Vileda SuperMocio Microfibre and Cotton Mop and Bucket Set
Brand: Vileda
Pros
- Microfibre and cotton blend
- Traditional Mop and Bucket
- Torsion Wringer
- Extendable Handle
Cons
- A full bucket can get quite heavy
The traditional mop and bucket design is hard to beat when it comes to floor cleaning. Vileda has developed a mop made from a microfibre and cotton blend that together, maximizes absorption as well as retains strength for scrubbing.
The 10-liter bucket has a torsion wring system that grips the wet mop from all sides and without much effort from you, all the dirty water is quickly squeezed out of the mop head.
The handle is extendable so will suit any user and the head of the mop is lemon-shaped which enables it to clean right into any tight corners.
This mop is great for laminate floors, tile floors, vinyl floors, and even hardwood floors. It’s strong enough for uneven surfaces and super absorbant so perfect to mop up any unfortunate spills.
The downside with a mop and bucket system is the bucket of water can end up very heavy which can be difficult to work with. If you struggle with heavy lifting then a water dispensing mop (like the Vileda spray mop) would be more suitable.
4. Best for Hard Floor – E-Cloth Deep Clean Mop
Brand: E-Cloth
Pros
- Premium Microfibre Textured Mophead
- Cleans all dirt with just water
- Effectively cleans in cracks and crevices
- Eco-Friendly
Cons
- Sometimes flips upside down
It can be a nightmare to clean hardwood floors, with all the cracks and gaps dust always seems to evade the duster. This is where the E-Cloth mop can help. The thick textured surface of the mop will get down into every corner so no dust is left behind.
The design of the cloth is so effective at lifting grease and grime with only the use of water so no need for any harsh chemicals.
The telescopic handle means the pole can be adjusted to suit your height so no backache when it comes to cleaning day. It’s lightweight so very easy to use.
The mophead is machine washable and easily attaches via velcro.
This mop is designed with the environment in mind and helps save on waste as well as costs to the consumer. It’s a perfect design for those uneven, hard surfaces and the only downside is that the flexible mophead can flip upside down if you push it too hard.
The best way to use it is to gently pull it towards you and that should solve this issue.
5. Best Microfibre Dust Mop – MR. SIGA Professional Microfiber Mop
Brand: MR. SIGA
Pros
- Double-sided microfibre and polished cloth
- 360 Swivel Pole
- Telescopic Handle
- 3 Microfibre cloths and 1 dirt removal scrubber included
Cons
- Pricey
If dusting is your priority then you need a microfibre mop built for the job. This design by Mr Siga is second to none. The stainless steel handle is telescopic so you can reach those high-up corners with ease.
The head is on a 360-degree swivel so easy to use on any surface.
The thing that makes this so useful when it comes to dusting is the double-sided cloth. One side is a thick microfibre sponge mop perfect for dusting or mopping. When you flip the cloth over it has a fine polish side that buffs up any clean floor to a sparkling shine.
The mop comes with 3 replacement mopheads and a specially designed scrubber that removes pet hair and dirt from the surface of it.
Things To Consider When Buying A Microfibre Mop
Storage
As with all types of cleaning equipment, storage can be a major concern. If you’re not fortunate enough to have a cleaning supplies cupboard then a mop and bucket isn’t a great option. It looks awful sitting out in the kitchen and can form a trip hazard.
If storage is tight then consider getting a mop with a loop on the handle so you can hang it up on a hook or peg. Some companies will sell specific wall fittings for this which can really help keep your home organized.
Make sure you measure up and consider the storage space you have available before you purchase that new mop.
Price
Top of the list, when buying any new cleaning equipment, has got to be the price tag. If the mop doesn’t fit your budget then it’s not going to be an option.
Microfibre mops vary a lot in cost with some of the cheaper options suffering a bit in quality. You can expect to pay anywhere between £5 to £100 so setting a budget before you buy is important to stop the price from escalating.
Are the Heads Replaceable or Washable
Machine washable mop heads are the way forward. They save you money and are more eco-friendly as they reduce waste. Ideally, a mop that comes with replacement heads that are washable is the best option as you can use the spare head whilst the dirty one is being cleaned.
Floor Space Needing to be mopped
The area of hard flooring in your home is really important as this can affect which mop type you go for. If you have a large, open-plan home or a tiled wet room then a mop with a wider head will help get the floors clean quickly and efficiently.
If the floor space is pretty small or you have a lot of furniture that creates narrow passageways then you’ll need a narrower, more flexible mop to reach into those tight corners.
F.A.Qs
What is a microfibre mop used for?
A microfibre mop can be used on most hard floor types. The soft surface makes it scratch-free but it’s durable enough for uneven Tiles, linoleum, vinyl, laminate, hardwood, and even concrete can all be cleaned with a microfibre mop.
Are there any other uses for a microfibre mop?
Microfibre is a versatile material that can be used for many cleaning jobs. Mopping or wet cleaning isn’t the only thing they’re good at. Dry dusting and polishing is also an easy task with microfibre. The scratch-free nature of these mops means you can use them to clean windows or glass doors alongside a squeegee to remove streaks.
Why choose microfibre?
Microfibre is an extremely absorbent material that removes dirt, grime, and grease with the design of the cloth. This means you don’t need cleaning chemicals for most jobs. Just a spray of water will do the trick. This saves lugging about heavy buckets of water and for tougher cleaning, a spray bottle with added floor soap will cut through the dirt.
Does mopping actually get the floor clean?
In order for a mop to get the floor really clean, the mop head needs to be clean itself. This is why it’s a good idea to remove loose dirt with a scraper and replace the mop head when it gets clogged up otherwise the fabric will just move the dirt around and not actually clean the floor.

HOMTOYOU Microfibre Dust Mop
Brand: Homtoyou
Pros
- Adjustable Pole and 360 Rotating Head
- Machine washable and dirt remover scrubber
- Hard-wearing stainless steel design
- 4 Refills included
Cons
- Head flips over if uneven pressure applied
When it comes to simple and effective this mop ticks every box. Starting with the structure is a sturdy steel pole that can be taken apart and fixed to the height that best suits you. The head design of the mop is on a 360 hinge so it reaches easily under furniture and it has a gripper gear tooth design to hold the cloth tightly in place.
The product comes with 4 mop pad refills that are machine washable so you won’t need to replace them for a long time if ever!
There’s also a handy scrubber tool to remove stubborn pet hair and dust from the mop head which helps it function as a duster as well.
Some people report having an issue with the mop head flipping over whilst in use. Generally, this is due to uneven pressure or being too forceful with the mop. If you go gently and pull it towards you with a firm and even pressure then this is unlikely to happen.
CXhome Hardwood Floor Mop
Brand: CXHome
Pros
- Spray Mop
- 2 Replacement Head Refills
- 360 Rotation
- Machine Washable and Dirt Scrubber Included
Cons
- The previous model used to leak
To save taking up storage space with a bucket, a spray mop is the perfect solution. As you push the mop along a handle can be pressed to let out a fine mist of water and cleaning products onto the floor. The mop then absorbs this plus any dirt, grease, or grime and that’s it!
It leaves the floor much drier than a mop and bucket system which makes cleaning quicker, safer, and more effective.
The mop comes with 2 replacement pads and a dirt scrubber that has various surfaces to really scrub away all manner of debris and moisture. The pads are also machine washable.
This product used to have an issue where the water dispenser leaked fluid which left puddles everywhere and made it really ineffective to use.
The manufacturer has thoroughly investigated the issue and this latest model has an extra seal on the bolt so the leaking issue is solved. They have also added a larger-sized bottle to the dispenser so you can mop further before re-filling it.
Large Area Flat Mop
Brand: Masthome
Pros
- 40x21cm Extra Large Mophead
- Adjustable Handle Length
- Machine Washable Pad
- Clips to allow space-saving storage
Cons
- Doesn’t fit into a standard mop bucket
If you have a large area needing to be cleaned then this floor mop is going to save you time and effort. The size of the head is much larger than the standard square mop and it comes with a spare pad so you can get through all the wet and dry cleaning in a single day.
The pads are fine to go in the washing machine and it comes with a rubber tool to remove pet hair.
The head of the mop has a clip attachment so it folds up ready to hang on the wall for storage. This helps save space and makes such a large mop less of a burden to own.
The handle is adjustable so no back pain when doing the cleaning. The only issue is that this size of mophead doesn’t fit into a standard mop bucket so a wider tray or spray bottle is needed to use alongside this.
Spontex Microfibre Twist Mop
Brand: Spontex
Pros
- Great Budget Option
- Telescopic Handle
- Integrated Wringer
- Non-scratch scrubbing pad
Cons
- Doesn’t come with a bucket
If you’re on a tight budget then consider this microfibre mop. It is a standard mop design but doesn’t require a specially designed bucket. The handle has a pull-operated wringer function that squeezes out excess water. It’s really simple to use and you can use any bucket, washing up bowl, or even wring it out in the sink.
The mophead is a soft microfibre fringe and is suitable for use on all surfaces except rough stone. It picks up all dirt and dust and can be used wet as a mop or dry for dusting. It has a tough, scrubbing pad on the end of the handle that can easily remove stubborn marks without scratching your floors.
The telescopic handle makes it easy to reach into any area and it folds away really small and compact for easy storage.
The head is machine washable and this mop doesn’t come with a spare. That being said, the head is very long-lasting so that makes up for it.
MASTERTOP Noodle Mop
Brand: Mastertop
Pros
- 2-in-1 Head Design
- 360 Degree Rotation Cleaning
- Replacement Pads and Scrubber Included
- Machine washable
Cons
- Can take a bit of getting used to
Finally, I have the Mastertop noodle mop. It may be last on the list but it’s certainly not lacking in design quality. The mophead is on a 360-degree rotary hinge and it also has a flip mechanism. This allows it to change from the chenille fabric wet side to a microfibre dry side.
How this works is you spray water and floor soap onto the dirty area, use the chenille side to scrub it clean, and then you easily flip it over to the microfibre side to allow quick and effortless drying.
If you’re not used to the flipping mechanism it can take a few tries to get the pressure right to stop the mop flipping by itself. It’s not a heavy mop and doesn’t require effort, just technique.
The mop comes with 3 replacement pads and 1 scrubber tool to keep them clean. The pole comes in 3 parts so you can set it to the desired height that suits you.
Overall, this is an easy-to-use and clever design that gets hard floors clean and dry in no time.
Take Home
Microfibre is a great choice when it comes to mopping as it’s durable, hygienic, and catches every last bit of dust or grime. There are numerous choices available when it comes to microfibre mops.
