- Best Cylinder – Shark Bagless Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner [CZ250UKTDB] Quiet Model With Anti Hair Wrap & DuoClean

1. Top Choice – Shark Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner [IZ300UK] With Anti Hair Wrap
Pros
- Anti-hair wrap to stop brush head from getting tangled
- Duo clean for hard floor and carpet
- 60-minute run time
- 50% more cleaning power than the previous model
- Upright storage
- HEPA filter for allergies
- Great for pet hair
Cons
- Emptying could be easier
I love this vacuum, yes that’s right I love a vacuum because it’s got the feature I’ve always dreamed of, an anti-hair wrap brush head.
This means it doesn’t get tangled in long hair that you have to awkwardly try and cut off while the vacuums on the side pour dust everywhere. You can just pick it up and go time and time again only having to stop and empty it.
It’s also got Shark’s Duo Clean which is a soft brush to pick up dust off of hard floors and a beater brush to bash dust and pet hair out of carpets. Alongside Shark’s latest innovation of PowerFins which beat up even more dirt out of carpets as you move around your house for maximum cleaning power.
It’s still not as powerful as the Shark upright vacuum below but it is a close second in terms of power and because it’s cordless it’s much easier to vacuum more regularly.
You can also bring it onto the furniture by changing it down to its handheld mode and using either the smaller brush head that comes with it or the main head for powerful suction and a deep clean of stairs.
The only problem is that the canister you empty sometimes gets wrapped with hair and you have to stick your hand in and pull it out. Not the end of the world but it makes emptying a little more of a messy job.
Finally, it’s got flexology technology which means it bends in half which you can use to easily get under furniture or, and this is the bit I like, you can fold it in half and it stores upright. Wall mounts are great but I prefer just being able to stand my vacuum in a corner.
This is my top choice of cordless vacuum and my best ever pick of all the vacuum cleaners, you couldn’t ask for better out of a vacuum cleaner.
2. Best Upright – Shark Upright Vacuum Cleaner [NZ690UK] Powered Lift-Away with Anti Hair Wrap Technology
Brand: Shark
Charge Type: Corded
Pros
- Anti-hair wrap technology
- DuoClean Technology For
- Powered Lift-Away Technology
- 25% more powerful than the previous model
- Most Powerful Cleaning Power
- Best Shark Vacuum For Hard Floor And Carpet
Cons
- Quite heavy at 6.6g
- Small dust container
This has the same great features the cordless model above does, you have the anti-hair wrap for easy vacuuming and the DuoClean head for carpets and hard floors.
What makes it different?
Well, it’s corded for one, so you have to plug it in and out and it’s heavier which you feel as you push it around. Not as heavy as previous models but heavier than the cordless version above.
But!
It has a more powerful suction because it has more space for the motor. So if you need an extra deep clean this is the way to go, but if you want to clean more frequently then go for the cordless above.
It’s also got a lift-away body which is still corded but makes cleaning the stairs easier, the hose comes out and you can just hold the body which is a lot lighter. This gives it some more versatility and makes it ideal for a whole house.
What’s fantastic about this though is that they’ve increased the cleaning power by 25% since the last model and somehow made it lighter! I’m not sure what wizardry they did to make that happen but I’m glad it did.
You can get this one with or without the pet attachment head (the UKT model includes the pet head). If you want a deep clean of your stairs and around furniture then get the pet attachment otherwise it’s probably not worth it.
Overall, a great choice if you want a deeper clean once or twice a week instead of a daily or every few days quick clean up.
3. Best Cylinder – Shark Bagless Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner [CZ250UKTDB] Quieter Dodel With Anti Hair Wrap
Pros
- Great suction
- Anti-hair wrap technology
- Great on all floor types
- 9m cord with automatic rewind
- Quiet version
Cons
- The hose can get blocked but can be manually unblocked
- Not the most practical for stairs
This is one of Shark’s newer vacuums, they haven’t done a ton of cylinder vacuums in the past, but luckily it’s got all the same great cleaning power that Shark offers.
You’ve got the anti-hair wrap and Duoclean heads to ensure a quick and easy clean across all floor types, and the stick you push around has the flexology so you can reach under counters and furniture easily.
But why you’ll want this one is because it’s got a nice big cord so you don’t have to think about how much charge is in t, and the cord automatically winds back in which saves the headache of wrapping it manually as you do with an upright vacuum.
Plus it’s much lighter than all the other vacuums with the weight being on the canister on the floor so it’s pulled behind you rather than straining your wrists as you move around the house.
It’s definitely Shark’s most lightweight vacuum without compromising on technology or cleaning power.
4. Cheapest Shark vacuum – Shark Lift-Away Upright Vacuum Cleaner [NV602UK]
Pros
- LED lights to see under furniture
- Strong suction power
- swivel steering
- Anti-allergen with HEPA filter
Cons
- Can’t use the main head in lift-away mode
The difference between this and the above model and the NV681UK is that when you lift this away you can’t use the regular floor head, you can only use the few tools it comes with, crevice tool and the pet tool if you bought that model. This only really limits a deep clean of the stairs, because you can still use the hose on the stairs but not with the main head.
You also don’t get the duo clean which auto-adjusts based on floor type, or the anti-hair wrap technology you get with the more expensive models above.
But what you do get is good suction power, a 5-year guarantee and an anti-allergen filter that cleans the air while you vacuum leaving your home fresher than ever before.
I think the NV850 or the cordless stick vacuum is better overall and worth the extra money, but if you’re looking to save you won’t go wrong with the 602.
Apart from that, you’ve got all the good things a Shark vacuum can bring, easy to use, comfortable swivel steering for easy vacuuming and it’s a little heavy but you get great cleaning power at an affordable price.
Oh and the difference between the NV602uk and the NV602UKT is the UKT model comes with the attachable pet cleaning head for when you’re using it as a lift-away vacuum.
Overall, this is a great choice of vacuum cleaner, pet owners will need a higher-end model but for general house clean this is perfect.
5. Best Corded Stick Vacuum – Shark Corded Stick Vacuum Cleaner [HZ500UKT] Lightweight
Pros
- DuoClean for all floor types
- Flexology to reach under furniture
- No charging required
- Lightweight
- 10m cord
Cons
- Debris sometimes falls out after turning off
Stick vacuum cleaners are lightweight and if you don’t like worrying about keeping batteries charged you can just buy a corded one! The cord is 10m long which is a long way to get around your house from as few plug sockets as possible.
It’s cheaper and has the DuoClean head for effective floor cleaning on carpet and hardwood floors. And the flexology allows you to easily reach under furniture or, like the cordless counterpart, it means you can fold it in two for upright storage which I like. No installing a bracket is required.
It also converts down to a handheld that uses the main floor head but also attaches to a crevice tool and dusting brush. A great choice if you’re cleaning your car so you can get right in and about the seats.
I personally prefer the cordless model but I know some people don’t like dealing with batteries if that’s you this is a great choice.
So Who Are Shark?
Shark is an American family-run company passing down cleaning knowledge through 3 generations. Best known for their vacuum cleaners they also make steam mops but those are saved for a different article.
And that’s pretty much all you need to know!
Different Types Of Shark Vacuum
In this Shark Vacuum review, we’re going to be looking at the upright vacuums and the stick vacuums.
Shark Upright Vacuums
Upright vacuums are great because they have far superior cleaning power, nice big canisters for holding dust and they’re (usually) nice and easy to empty.
The only problem they have is that they’re a lot bulkier and you have to move them from plug to plug as you go around your house. They can also be a pain to store but they do stand up by themselves so you can just tuck them in a cupboard somewhere.
Shark Cordless Stick Vacuums
The stick vacuums are normally cordless and have an excellent run time of about 22 minutes.
They charge up easily, are nice and lightweight and you can change them into handhelds to get in and about everywhere that dust gathers. It makes the stairs way easier too!
When you put them into their handheld models they’re also great for cleaning out the car.
Some people don’t like that you have to charge them but I love being able to take out a stick vacuum and have a quick vacuum around the house.
Shark Corded Stick Vacuum Cleaner
They have a version of stick vacuum that doesn’t rely on batteries, even lithium-ion batteries! These are lightweight and easy to use and are good if you want a lightweight shark but don’t want to charge it as you would a cordless vacuum cleaner, non-rechargeable and still great for allergy sufferers.
And of course, bagless vacuums like all Shark models are.
What Makes Shark Vacuums Better
Loads of things! They’re just great vacuum cleaners! But it wouldn’t be much of a review if I didn’t give you a little more than this now would it?
Lift-Away Technology
One of the cool things about the Shark upright vacuums is their lift-away technology.
This lets you lift the canister out of the main vacuum and use it with just the hose. Handy for cleaning the stairs and getting to the harder-to-reach places.
And combined with the below feature to get Shark DuoClean powered lift-away vacuum cleaners, that’s a mouthful eh?
Duo Clean
Shark Duo Clean is the combination of two roller heads instead of one in the head of the vacuum cleaner.
If you’ve looked under a vacuum you’ll be used to seeing the one roller head right? Well, this is the same idea, only there are two slightly different ones.
Why?
Well, one is a firmer brush which makes cleaning carpets nice and easy because the bristles can lift dirt out of the fibres of the carpet.
Meanwhile, the other roller is soft so you can seamlessly transfer to hard floors without having to switch heads or change settings.
Anti Hair Wrap
This is the newest Shark innovation and one I’ve long anticipated. long hair doesn’t get wrapped around the brush bar! it goes straight into the dustbin where it can be emptied easily.
No need to turn it upside down and figure out if the rollers are detachable so you can cut all the hair out. Absolute bliss.
5-Year Guarantee
If you register your Shark Vacuum with them you get a 5-year guarantee for a little extra peace of mind.
Great Price
They’re excellent value, built to last powerful suction and great cleaning power. You get way above and beyond the price you pay for it.
HEPA Filter
The Shark Vacuums all come with a built-in HEPA filter.
What’s that you ask?
It’s a filter that catches and removes all the allergens out of the air. So as you’re hovering around the house you’re cleaning up the air too.
If you have pets or live near a busy road you’ll notice the difference from this.
Anything else?
Sure is!
But I wouldn’t want to take away from the surprise of the individual reviews so I’m going to make a start on them.
F.A.Q
Is Shark better than Dyson?
They are more affordable which I take as a plus, they’re cleaning power is comparable but Dyson has the edge, but it comes at a cost of almost double in some cases. Shark are my favorite for that reason.
Is Shark better than Gtech?
Again it’s hard to say, I think Shark is the more accessible brand, they’re more popular and while they don’t have the same innovation they make very good vacuum cleaners.
Which Shark has the best suction?
That’s got to be the Shark NV801UKT.
Is Shark a good vacuum brand?
Why yes they are! A strong brand that makes some of the best vacuum cleaners around.
Which Shark is best for carpets and hard floors?
Any Shark that has the DuoClean head will do a great job on both, otherwise, they tend to struggle on hard floors.
Older Shark Vacuums Reviewed
Shark NV340UKT Vacuum Review
Style: Upright
- TruePet Motorized Brush head
- Lift-Away Technology
- good carpet cleaning
An honorable mention for the Shark NV340UKT because it’s the older version of the two above, so it doesn’t have powered lift-away technology or DuoClean.
The weird thing is at the time of writing this it was a lot more expensive than the NV680UKT. Now I’m not sure why because it’s older and not as powerful.
I can only imagine it’s an error on Amazon’s part so if that gets changed and it becomes the cheapest then it’ll get to stay on the list.
Because it’s still a great vacuum cleaner, the Lift-Away technology’s still there and it hoovers up well. But not well enough to have to pay more for it than the top model.
Overall, for now, it stays but go for either of the above models if you’re looking for an upright Shark Vacuum.
Shark DuoClean IF200UK Vacuum Review
Style: Cordless Stick
- DuoClean Technology
- Stick Folds For Easy Cleaning
- 22 Minute Run Time
- Converts To Hand Vac
- Great On Carpet and hard floor
- Lightweight
The Shark IF200UK is the ideal cordless stick vacuum. It’s got the same DuoClean technology as the NV800UKT upright so you can get a deep clean.
Plus it has the very fancy-sounding Flexology built into it. No that’s not a new type of Yoga it’s a sort of kink in the middle of the shaft that you can use to get right underneath furniture with no problems at all.
It’s nice and lightweight so you can carry it around easily and it folds down into a handheld vacuum so you can clean the stairs, even your car, with no trouble at all.
It’s also got a 22-minute runtime which is excellent for a cordless vacuum and it can fold down so that it stands up by itself. A lot of cordless stick vacuums have to be proper against something which isn’t ideal so this is just fine.
You charge it by running a cable to the vacuum or you can take the battery out and charge it that way if you don’t want to leave a loose cable lying around. The charge time is about 3.5 hours from the flat, excellent when I’ve seen small handheld vacuums that take 12 hours to charge!
Overall, Easily The Best Shark Cordless Vacuum, with great power, great runtime, and easy charging.
Shark HV380UKT Review
Style: Corded Stick Vacuum
- DuoClean Technology For
- TruePet Motorized Brush head
- Follow Up to Their Popular Rocket Vacuum
- Wall Mounted
What’s cool about the HV380UKT is that it can be wall-mounted when it’s getting stored. Great if you don’t have a lot of space or just like to be tidy.
This is similar to the IF200UK above with the all-important difference that this one is corded!
So you plug it in rather than charging it up. I know some people don’t like having to charge their vacuum but love the lightweight use of a stick vacuum so this one’s perfect.
It also has the great DuoClean power that we’ve talked about so much but it doesn’t have the fun Flexology. It is lightweight enough that holding it down near the floor isn’t too much of a problem though.
Overall, A great corded stick vacuum, lightweight and wall-mounted for easy storage.
Shark Upright Vacuum Cleaner [NV681UKT] Pet Hair, Powered Lift-Away
Pros
- Powered Lift-Away Technology
- True pet Motorized Brush head
- Great Suction
- Great Price
Cons
- Not as good on a hard floor
The Shark NV681UKT is the most popular model of Shark vacuum cleaner. It’s the perfect middle ground of affordable and superb cleaning power.
The brush head is powered by an even deeper clean and works as a powered brush head even when it’s lifted away. So you can get really deep cleaning power anywhere you go in your house!
It’s Amazon’s most popular model and if you click through for the price you’ll understand why. I’m not allowed to say what the price is here because it breaches their terms and conditions I’m afraid. But if you click through you can read more reviews yourself!
The Tru Pet head is cool because it’s a smaller motorized head you fit right onto the end of the hose so you can de-hair any furniture, or the curtains or the stairs, and upholstery a lot easier and more thoroughly than using the normal vacuum head.
Where it falls down is hard floors because it’s missing the DuoClean head you get in the above models.
Overall, The two above also do a great job with pet hair, even better, but this is a little cheaper and a fine choice for cleaning up after your cat, dog or whatever other pet you have.
Conclusion
There are other even older models of Shark Vacuum the Shark Rocket, Shark Navigator, and Shark Rotator, Shark Apex but I decided to limit to the current best picks and the most recent ones if you’re trying to find a second-hand model.
