Shark is a powerhouse in the world of vacuum cleaners, producing nothing but top-quality products. They’ve always been a little cheaper than Dyson while still in the same league.
The Shark NV681UKT is replacing the older NV680UKT so I thought I’d write up this review for anyone thinking of buying one. I’ve got a quick summary of the pros and cons and the best bits before going into some more detail. Enjoy!

What Is It Good For
Absolutely nothing! Say it again, Y’all…
Ahem… I joke of course. The Shark NV681UKT is great for most around-the-house tasks.
It makes short work of cleaning the carpet and being able to pick up hair and bobbles that can get caught. Lots of reports of people saying their carpets looked brand new again which can only be a good sign.
But it also works great on hard floors and doesn’t just blow dust around the place. And then you can Lift Away the main canister and vacuum the stairs with just a few buttons!
This saves buying a different vacuum for stairs or having to try and have an upright vacuum, balancing it on each step which is just exhausting.
What I like about it
There were a lot of things I like about the Shark NV681UKT but I’ll keep it to the important ones.
LED Lights On The Head
I just think it’s awesome that there are LED lights on the head of the vacuum that show all the dust while you’re vacuuming. It means you can be really thorough and see underneath the furniture to see if it’s been vacuumed or not.
Lift Away
This was always going to be a big hit. You can lift away the middle canister from the main body of the vacuum and carry it around.
Why you ask?
Well, it means cleaning the stairs becomes infinitely easier. And if you have a lot of hard-to-reach places they suddenly become a lot more accessible.
Easy to Use
There are just a couple of different buttons that do the normal vacuum things, release the canister, and detach the Lift-Away section. Then there are two buttons on the handle of the upright where you can change the suction power and turn on the turbo brush.
So if you come to a really stubborn bit of carpet you can just press a button and get it cleaned!
There are loads of other great things, I took the cleaning power as a given, that make this great but those are my three favourites.
NV681UKT vs the NV680UKT
So what are the differences between the old and the new models?
Surprisingly not much, but luckily there’s not much if any difference in the price either.
The NV680 had more power at 850 Watts instead of 750 of the NV681 but I don’t think it actually loses any cleaning power. And it means it should last longer.
Meanwhile, the NV681 is quieter (which makes sense if it has less power) and weighs a little bit less.
Both are great it’s just that the NV680 is going out of production.
UK or UKT what’s the difference?
One thing Shark is really bad for is making super similar product names so you can’t tell them apart.
The UKT means it is a Tru-Pet model so it’s got a powered brush and comes with an extra head attachment so you can clean your furniture and curtains easier.
Final Verdict on The Shark NV681UKT
The Shark NV681UKT is a fantastic vacuum cleaner, it’s top-end without the price tag of a Dyson while still having all the cleaning power so it will leave your house spotless.
