On/Off

The power symbol is labelled with the standard ÒIÓ and ÒOÓ with the ÒIÓ representing power and the ÒOÓ representing power off. This is a very straightforward and universally recognized symbol which makes it easy to use. Pressing the button with this symbol will turn your washing machine on or off.
Best Used For:
Turning your appliance on or off.

This makes it easy to turn your appliance on and off, and the Hotpoint washing machine also has a Start/Pause indicator light that will slowly in a green colour to indicate that the machine is turned on.
Rinse
Overview:
The Rinse symbol is a bucket or tub with three lines indicating water spraying into the tub. This represents a rinse cycle.
Best Used For:
The Rinse button can be used to select the desired rinse type on your program.

Spin
Overview:
The Spin symbol is a simple spiral image.
Best Used For:
You can use the Spin button on your washing machine to reduce or completely exclude the spin cycle on your washing programme. The speed value of your selected spin will be indicated on the display panel.
Benefits/Drawbacks:
The spin cycle at the end of a wash is designed to remove as much moisture as possible from your clothes. However, this cycle can potentially damage your clothes by stretching them out. Being able to reduce the spin time may preserve your clothing.
Temperature
Overview:
The Temperature symbol can be easily identified by the shape of a thermometer.
Best Used For:
The Temperature symbol also has a button that can be pressed to decrease the temperature on your chosen cycle. The degrees will be shown on the display panel.
Benefits/Drawbacks:
The washing machine will automatically select the maximum possible temperature for the program you select. The Temperature button will allow you to select a lower temperature if you wish to do so.
Key Lock
Overview:
The Key Lock symbol is represented by a simple key image.
Best Used For:
This button can be used to activate the control panel lock by holding the button down for around 2 seconds. When it’s been locked, the display panel will display ÒKEY LOCK ON.Ó You can deactivate the function by holding the same button for another 2 seconds.
Benefits/Drawbacks:
This function prevents you from accidentally changing or modifying cycles, especially when there are children in your home who might press the buttons on the appliance.
Delay
Overview:
The Delay button symbol is represented by a clock with an arrow going around it.

Overview:
The Spin + Pump Out symbol combines the Spin symbol (a spiral) and a tub of water with an arrow pointing downwards. The arrow represents the water being pumped out of the appliance.

This indicates that the cycle you have selected will spin your clothes and pump out the water from the machine at the end of the cycle.
Benefits/Drawbacks:
This function ensures that your clothes will have the majority of the water removed from them before you take them out, making drying quicker and easier.
Door Lock
Overview:
The Door Lock symbol is a simple and easy-to-identify image of a locked padlock.
Best Used For:
This symbol is used to show on the display panel that the washing machine door is locked and cannot be opened.
Benefits/Drawbacks:
When this symbol is illuminated on your display panel, you will know that the door cannot be opened and should not be forced open, as this may damage your appliance. The appliance locks the door during a cycle to prevent it from being opened accidentally. Wait until the symbol switches itself off before attempting to open the door.

Time Saver
Overview:
The Time Saver function’s symbol is a clock that appears to be moving rapidly due to the three horizontal lines positioned behind it.
Best Used For:
This option can be applied to any washing programme but is recommended only for lightly soiled garments.
Benefits/Drawbacks:
This function will reduce the wash cycle duration by up to 50%, depending on your selected cycle. This will save you time, water, and energy use, and have your clothes cleaned quicker.
Colour Care
Overview:
The Colour Care symbol is represented by a painter’s palette.
Best Used For:
You can use this option by selecting Cycle 6. You will be able to choose between three different Colour Care programs: Colours, Darks, and Whites.
Benefits/Drawbacks:
These programmes are specifically designed to optimally preserve colour intensity and the brilliance of your white garments. The Colour Care programmes will maintain the colours of your clothes for longer over time.
Steam Hygiene
Overview:
The Steam Hygiene symbol is a cloud of steam identified by a cloud-like shape and three vertical lines indicating an upward movement. The symbol also has a + sign on the right-hand side of the steam to indicate hygiene.
Best Used For:
This function can be used on any wash programme.
Benefits/Drawbacks:
Selecting this option will enhance the washing performance of your appliance. The washing machine will generate steam during the washing cycle to eliminate bacteria in the fibres of your clothes. Keep in mind that the steam may fog up the porthole door.
